I'm not seeing linker problems (different linker perhaps),
but it isn't working either since the testdrive is broken:

+++ /tmp/rpm/bin/rpm --macros=macros --eval '%{_topdir}'
++ rpmtopdir=%{_topdir}

Yesterday it was evaluating the macros twice, but now it
seems to not be evaluating them at all. In transit still ?
