One last note ...

Berkeley DB for many years now will read its own configuration
from a DB_CONFIG file (i.e. /var/lib/rpm/DB_CONFIG) that will
override any tunable that RPM attempts from the macros I've
just described.

The contents of DB_CONFIG file are quite completely documented in every
released version of Berkeley DB I've used for years, certainly for all
of db-4.x.y versions. But yes you will need to dig out the details.

SO if you are attempting to make "not happening" I/O happen, I suggest
just configuring Berkeley DB using DB_CONFIG, not RPM macros.
